DEEP-CHAT COURSE: ChatGPT - Deepening the Development Mindset through the Art of Questioning

The term ‘development mindset’ is often associated with the term 'growth mindset', or its opposite: the 'fixed mindset'. A person with a growth mindset believes that intelligence, abilities, and talents can be developed and improved through effort. In contrast, someone with a fixed mindset believes that these traits are stable and unchangeable. The Deep-Chat Course argues that our self-changing and self-awareness needs to be considered when addressing our development mindset, in line with A. Maslow’s quote: 'What is necessary to change a person is to change his awareness of himself. ' Following this logic, the Deep-Chat Course demonstrates that our approach to the development mindset, whether in a professional or personal context, is often too narrow. It fails to take into account the mindset's multifaceted nature, which goes beyond the duality of growth- and fixed-oriented mindsets. ChatGPT can be a useful tool for raising awareness of our limited development mindset, as it reflects our thought processes, making it easier to see how our mindset influences us in everyday life.

5-days of Deep-Chat Course

The Deep-Chat course uses ChatGPT as a tool in several successive phases during its implementation. Adopting a holistic approach to development, the course covers three thinking methods developed by the Center Spirala: the Selfmobility thinking model, the IDEAcoaching method, and the HOW4 Matrix of Human Mindset. In the first phase, ChatGPT is treated as a 'special participant', while the other participants act as observers. ChatGPT is asked a series of questions about the development mindset and the participants observe its linguistic behaviour when producing the answers. Participants gain insights into their own thought processes by observing this behaviour. In the second phase, the course providers work with the participants only, without using ChatGPT. Through a questioning process regarding development mindset issues, participants increase their understanding of the areas in which human thinking processes and ChatGPT’s linguistic behaviour are similar, and the areas in which they differ. Through these two phases, participants deepen their understanding of the development mindset, which is important for achieving a more holistic approach to overcoming their personal or professional challenges. In the third phase, participants work individually with ChatGPT on their own development challenges. Armed with a deeper understanding of their development mindset from phases one and two, participants are more equipped (in terms of the art of questioning) for more meaningful discussions with ChatGPT regarding their own development challenges.

Prospective target groups:

  • Adult educators
  • Adult learners
  • Young adults
  • Other interested in the subject

Course objectives

The Deep-Chat Course uses ChatGPT to improve understanding of the development mindset. The first objective is to deepen this mindset, helping participants to fulfil their professional or personal goals and overcome challenges. The second objective is to hone the art of questioning, which is the most effective way to master AI generative tools such as ChatGPT.

Central Parts from the 5-day Deep-Chat Course:

  • Presentation of IDEAcoaching method – Addressing deprogramming issues
  • Questioning about the development mindset by using IDEAcoaching method; Comparing and evaluating ChatGPT and participants’ feedback
  • Presentation of Selfmobility thinking model - Addressing issues of thinking insights and motivation’s origins
  • Questioning about the development mindset by using Selfmobility thinking model; Comparing and evaluating ChatGPT and participants’ feedback
  • Presentation HOW4 Matrix of Human Mindset – Addressing issues of development mindset widening
  • Questioning process about development mindset by using HOW4 Matrix of Human Mindset; Comparing and evaluating ChatGPT and participants’ feedback
  • Participants’ questioning process in using ChaTGPT in addressing their own development challenges on insights from previous parts, to increase their art of questioning

What does a deeper development mindset allow us to do?

  • To be more creative and, consequently, feel more alive
  • To gain a better understanding of how external ideas impact our mindset for development
  • To confront our clearer perception of self and identity
  • To gain a clearer insight into the importance of self-leading
  • Shift our thinking from focusing on the past and future to the present
  • To cope better with the time stress, we increasingly face nowadays
  • To strengthen our critical thinking regarding development issues
  • To understand why we feel like we'll miss something if we're not up to date with everything
  • To identify the central and often hidden reasons for obstacles or weak motivation when it comes to achieving personal or career goals
  • To identify the major challenge (as well as the paradox) in humans' efforts to think 'out of the box'
  • To strengthen our understanding of why a deepening development mindset is crucial for successful coexistence in the face of rapid AI development.
